Dear Birthmother,
We are Melinda and Allen (the second). We feel blessed that you are taking the time to consider us to be adoptive parents to your child – thank you! We hope that after reading our letter and taking a look at our pictures, that you will have an idea of who we are and all that we hope to offer your child. About Us:We met our freshmen year of college. We were friends for 17 years before we got married and are choosing to adopt because we were diagnosed with infertility. We are a fun loving couple. We talk, laugh, and lean on each during difficult times. We enjoy going to the movies, dinner, shopping, spending time with our dogs and with friends (many of them who have small children), and visiting our parents. We also love to travel.
About Allen: My husband is amazing. He is kind, patient and generous. He loves watching and playing basketball and listening to rap and hip-hop music. He plays the piano, is a great cook and loves taking pictures! He loves to help and care for people. There isn’t a favor he won’t do for someone. My husband is a Special Education Teacher, and will soon finish his Master’s degree in Special Education and Human Development. My husband is looking forward to having a child to teach to play basketball, play the piano, and show the world to. About Melinda: I am so proud of my wife. My wife has a diverse background. She is African-American and Black Hispanic. She is smart and speaks Spanish fluently! My wife is an employment discrimination lawyer. She values a good education and will make sure that we provide our child with a great education. She is an honest, kind, generous, and loyal person. She thinks of others before she thinks of herself and believes in sacrificing for the people she loves. She loves to read and is athletic. She plays tennis and has played on a flag football team. She loves to travel and taking time out to go to the spa. My wife is also creative and is a great cook and is looking forward to having a child to love, pamper, and spoil. Our Home:We live in the suburbs of Maryland (close to Washington, D.C.). Our home is a newly built 2,500 square feet two-story single family home. It has four bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms, a nice size backyard, and is on a cul-de-sac. Our neighborhood is culturally diverse, with a community center, pool and tennis courts. There are many children in our neighborhood of all different ages. We live 10 minutes from shopping, restaurants, bowling, skating, movies, Chuck E Cheese, laser tag, bumper carts, parks, golf, miniature golf, a batting range, lakes, walking/bike trails, horseback riding, great day care centers, churches of all denominations, and good public and private schools. Our Family, Friends & Pets: We have a wonderful family and great friends (our extended family). Your child will have four grandmothers, two grandfathers, three great grandmothers, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins to love them. We have two small dogs – “Blu” & “Greycie.” They are Schnoodles (mixed Schnauzer/Poodles). They are three and a half years old, and we have had them since they were three months old. They are playful and great with kids.
Our Beliefs:
Faith, Health & Education: We are Christians. Our child will grow up with an understanding of who God is and what God’s love means. Our child will always receive great medical care and a great education. Our child will also have a college education fund from the very beginning. In Closing, Our Commitment to You: Your child will be raised in a fun loving, caring, nurturing home. Your child will be taught that their adoption was one of love and sacrifice, and a great blessing. We are happy to share letters and pictures with you. We are also happy to discuss future visits. If you would like to talk to us we would love to hear from you.
