Maurice and Moniqua with their newborn son

God Will Bless You

This was a late August morning in 2006. Some time ago, my girlfriend had forwarded me some websites about adoption, Lifetime among them. She and I never really discussed adoption; the wounds of infertility were still festering. After reading the website information about Lifetime adoption my husband and I completed and submitted the on-line application and photo. We then searched the internet for a home study group that was local to us here in Orlando.

To make a truly miraculous story short, we gathered all of our documentation, met with our home study group, contacted referrals provided through Lifetime, sent away for our background checks, retained an attorney and then prepared to complete our profile and wait. But we didn't have to. Recall that I stated we made the decision to adopt in late August of this year, we had our home visit Labor Day weekend, and then we got THE CALL. Our coordinator, Libby, called me on September 22 and asked me how close were we to having our home study completed. Amazingly enough we had just overnighted the last pieces of documentation to the home study agency the night before. Her next question was, "would you and Maurice be prepared to take a baby that is due on October 1st of this year?" I could not believe it! A birthmother wanted to know more about us! This was absolutely more than we could have hoped for.

I can't say enough about how God will bless you when you step back and let him take the reigns of your life. It goes without saying, that we answered God's call and now have a beautiful baby boy, born October 2, 2006!

Lifetime and our home study group helped my husband and I realize the dream of becoming a family through adoption. Both organizations were timely, efficient, supportive and above all else faithful! They kept reassuring us that this would happen: that God had a baby that was meant for us, and He did. The process was clear and virtually foolproof.

Is our story of adoption fulfillment within a month unique? Probably, but out of the question -no! Remember God works in mysterious ways; only He truly knows your heart and the longings of it. Would we do it again? Absolutely! My advice to anyone out there who feels adoption in their heart: get serious, get organized and get ready to be blessed!
